Sunset over Monteverde. Costa Rica.

After breakfast, Mauricio drove us to Monteverde, which takes about four hours. Following lunch, we went on an ecological sanctuary walk. Get ready for another list! We saw an orange-bellied trogan, a keel-billed toucan, a brown jay, and a blue-crowned mot mot. We also saw a Mexican hairy porcupine and my favorite giant rodent, an agouti. Our guide carried a spotting scope, and we were able to get a good look at lots of the birds.
