New banner and blog name are live!

by Kara on September 16, 2009

I really struggled with a name for my blog. Kara’s Travel Blog was a bit bland. So I put the question out to the geniuses on the Bookmooch forum, saying that I wanted some sort of play on words using my last name. A fine English gentleman, Rob Sharp, came up with what was hands down my favorite title: Bay Leaves… …and arrives somewhere else. Makes me smile every time I see it!

Once I had a name, I needed a banner. I turned to Etsy, which is my favorite shopping ground for all things creative. I hired two people to make banners, figuring that even with the same parameters, they would each come up with something totally different. That turned out to be the case. Both designs were quite good, but the one I selected for the site fit my personality more. It was designed by Callista311, who I think did a beautiful job. She was very easy to work with and very fast. She did a larger version that I liked even more, but it was probably a little too big for the header.

Anyway, I just want to thank Rob and Callista for helping me bring more of a personality to my travel blog. I love both the new name and the banner!

Really cool title! Very clever. The banner is really classy. You also did a good move when you chose Thesis, it’s by far my favourite WordPress theme. It looks great and works better than most themes.

So, congrats – have fun blogging, now that everything looks so good.

Very Nice.
I assume with a name like Bay Leaves, you will be featuring pictures of exotic foods in addition to the lovely travel photos?
Thank you for the blog. I love to learn.

I should post some food pictures! In Korea, I was not allowed to take a bite of my food until Stephen took a picture. I am sure that will be the case in Bhutan as well!

Hi Kara – remember me from Bookmooch? Didn’t know you had this blog so was delighted to find it. Hope all is well with you both and all the animals!
